It's true, I'd much rather be a writer than an agent. I'm the type that can take the pain myself, but I hate hurting/letting down others. And the amount of work I have now -- freelance writing, my editing job, working on my novel, raising my kiddo by myself, all while trying to have a life... I can hardly get books read anymore. I couldn't imagine having to do what agents do every day. And then when they do get a vacation, their inboxes are at least twice as full as normal and they're that much more behind!!! Yes, they complain. Yes, we complain. But all in all, I applaud them. We both have tough jobs. Great post, girlie! It’s true, I’d much rather be a writer than an agent. It's been interesting seeing the world on the other side of the query wars. My agent has a life. She has a family. She's crazy busy. And still she finds time to read several hundred queries A DAY, plus requested manuscripts, plus client manuscripts, not to mention dealing with submissions, talking to clients, and a million other little and big things (like carrying a baby for a friend who can't have her own--Sara IS a Saint).
